Visit at the University of Ostrava within the Academic Week in Political and Economic Geographies

On April 22-23 (2024) dr Bartosz Czepil, the coordinator of the Border and Regional Studies Network, visited the Department of Human Geography and Regional Development at the University of Ostrava in order to participate in the Academic Week. The visit was an opportunity to present the network, its activities and partnerships to the guests from Indonesia and Georgia.

During his stay in Ostrava dr Bartosz Czepil delivered also a lecture to the students of political geography titled ’The Central Government Fund for Local Investments as an instrument of clientelistic politics towards the local government in Poland – the position of the German minority in the Opolskie province’.

The University of Ostrava is one of the founding members of the Border and Regional Studies Network, thus the visit had a very symbolic meaning reminding about beginnings of the network in 2021. This was also a chance to discuss future developments with dr Lukáš Laš, who coordinates the network at the University of Ostrava.
