Department of Economic and Social Geography, Demography, and Regional Development has a long tradition in research on regions and cross-border cooperation. Currently, the main topics of our research are:
- geography and complex social systems
- demographic analyses and forecasts and human resources research
- political and electoral geography, EU policies
- cities and settlement systems
- geography of public administration and public policy
- cartographic visualization of geographical and demographical data and atlas production
- diversity, inequality, and accessibility
Department organizes, on rotating basis, biannual Czech–Polish–Slovak seminar devoted to variety of regional issues (see: http://konference.geography.cz/en/konference/13th-czech-polish-slovak-seminarium/). Recently, several members of the department cooperated within the Danube Interregional Program – Youmig (Improving institutional capacities and fostering cooperation to tackle the impacts of transnational youth migration, see: http://www.interreg-danube.eu/approved-projects/youmig). There is also a partnership with the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava aimed at cooperation in the projects focusing on urban space transformations.

is assistant professor at the Department of Economic and Social Geography, Demography, and Territorial Development of the Comenius University in Bratislava. His main research and teaching activities are aimed at the study of religious and ethnic diversity, studies in demographic aspects of religious and ethnic groups in specific regional settings within societal transformation (such as secularization and assimilation). Recent research activities are also aimed at processes of ageing of society (especially in urban environment) and transformation of suburban regions of Bratislava
